crashes do happen. If it's a server problem you get the destroyed stuff back by petitioning, if it's a client problem then it's your problem. There should never be a game mechanic in place to prevent losses from a player's computer or equipment ...

There would need to be a timer on drones in the case of d/c. 5 minutes or something. After that they would be no longer bound to your ship.

Would make drones overpowered. Yet another request for an "easy" mode for EvE tbh. If you lose something then try petitioning to get it back, the worst that will happen is a refusal and you'll know the problem is yours to fix locally.
